On 6 April 2021, a research associate of the department of museum-educational activity of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Vagapov R.Z. held for the students of Spassky College of sectoral technology a lecture on «Alexander Nevsky is a great Russian commander».
In Russia, only people who suffered for the Fatherland and left in historical memory of people an indelible mark were considered to be saints. Among such persons, there is a prince-warrior Alexander Yaroslavich Nevsky. His greatest tribute to the Russian land is that he crushed two crusades – German and Swedish knights who were marching to Novgorod Rus.
During the lecture, the audience got acquainted with surprising facts from the military biography of the great Russian commander. Alexander Nevsky, the largest general of that time, creatively approached the tactics of combat: preferred surprise and speed, took into account the peculiarities of a territory, strengths and weaknesses of his and enemy troops, beat the enemy in pieces, used intelligence effectively.
The victories of Russian troops in the just struggle of Russian people against the aggression of German and Swedish feudal lords determined the advanced character of Russian military art in the 13th century.
Alexander Nevsky’s mastery was included in the gold fund of Russian and world war art. The great warrior, «the sun of the Russian land», buried with great honors in Vladimir-Christmas monastery in the city of Vladimir was recognized as a saint by the Russian Orthodox Church.
