June 19, 2022. Finalists of the historical-cultural contest “Tarkhan” visited Great Bolgar.

On 19 June 2022, six finalists of the historical-cultural contest “Tarkhan” and their teachers visited Bolgar Museum-Reserve. In December 2021, the Ministry of Culture of RT together with the Institute of International Affairs of Kazan federal university launched a historical-cultural contest “Tarkhan” for high school students of Tatarstan. Its final stage was held in the format of a television game. 256 schoolchildren took part in the contest, and 32 of them became the participants of the television broadcast “Tarkhan”.
The winners of the game enroll in the Institute of International Affairs in the specialty “History of Turkic peoples” on a free basis out of competition. This project is implemented within the celebration of the 1100th anniversary of adoption of Islam by Volga Bulgaria.
For the delegation, an excursion program was organized with a visit to the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization, Museum of Koran and architectural monuments of XIII-XIV centuries. At the end of the program, the guests visited Khan’s headquarters where they knew the history of invention of the bow and experienced their powers in archery. In the museum “Bolgar tea party”, the visitors had a master class in preparing a national dish “Bal-mai”.
