On 6 October 2021, in the exhibition area of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization opened an exhibition “History of Islamic culture in five museum articles” in an offline mode. The exhibition tells about the history and culture of Muslim people. Islam is the youngest of the world’s religions. It appeared in VII century among the population of the Arabian Peninsula. Today Islam is one of the most widespread religions on our planet, and you can meet its representatives in all corners of the globe. Islam has several meanings. It literally means “peace”. Another meaning is “submission to God”.
At the exhibition, visitors can see five articles from the funds of Bolgar Museum-Reserve: Koran, a case for Koran, a prayer rug – namazlyk, beads and kumgan. Each item in the exposition has its own unique history and reflects the development of Islam in the territory of Tatarstan. In these items, there is finesse of the East and depth of ancient traditions, a centuries-long path of Islam and rich culture of peoples for whom it is precious and sacred. Visitors of the exhibition can learn some interesting facts about Koran, about the purpose and use of Muslim beads, why a miniature Koran was women’s favorite accessory and why Muslims cannot commit namaz without a rug.
The exhibition will last until November 9, 2021.
