On 1 April 2021, a research associate of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Muhametshin D. G. held a lecture on “The history of our ancestors” for the participants of the club “The University of the Third Age”. Staff members of the museum-reserve Muhametshin I. D. and Galimullina N. R. also spoke in front of the audience.
The lecture of Galimullina N. R was about our fellow countryman, an outstanding poet and educator Kul Gali – the author of a poem “Kyssa-i Yusuf”. This poem is the main work of Kul Gali written in the old Tatar language and based on koranic plots. The poem is devoted to the fight for human happiness. It played a great role in the culture of Volga Bulgaria and later in Turkic culture. The poem was first prepared for print by a poet and scientist Gabderahim Utyz Imyani and published in 1839 at the Kazan University Printing House. The original of the poem has not survived.
The lecture of Muhametshin I. D. was devoted to the history of a sunken town Spassk-Kuibyshev. Modern Bolgar remembers its historical roots. The remains of the Old town attract researchers’ attention. Many residents of Bolgar remember the history of the town.
At the end of the lecture, the participants continued to make their family trees – an important part of our history.
