On 27 November 2020, a staff member of the Department of Guided Tours Organization of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Sabirzyanova L.I. held a lecture on “Winter fun” for the students of the 4th grade of Bolgar Comprehensive School №1.
In ancient Russia, people always liked games like any other nations. Games had mass character, and there was a great variety of them. They reflected the spirit and the history of people and played an important role in their life. Games were not just entertainment, they also contributed to the lively interaction among people and remained the principal means of physical education developing strength, agility, speed, accuracy and other skills.
The word “fun” itself had not only “entertaining” sense but also meant “massive events”. Winter has long been the time for amusement in Russia: seasonal work on the fields ended and people had more free time that is why youth made up different ways of having fun.
During the lecture, children knew about the games of our ancestors and figured out that sport competitions are important for physical health. The students also talked about modern sports and games. At the end of the lesson, they actively participated in a quiz.
