On 18 November 2020, the head of museum and educational department of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Vagapov R. Z. held an interactive event on “Kaz omese – so much fun together”.
Kaz omese is a holiday of a goose feather. The phrase “kaz omese” translated into Russian means “goose help”. This autumn calendar festivity goes deep into antiquity. Since ancient times in late autumn, usually with the first freezing-over, the residents of Tatar villages held a collective processing of goose meat, feather and down. Traditionally on that day, people preserve goose meat in advance and pluck fluff for pillows, which go for the bride’s dowry.
Such holidays are not only assistance in work and having fun or acquaintance with future daughters-in-law, it is a school of home economics and funny traditions lovingly kept since the dawn of time.
The event was held offline. The audience became familiar with the traditions of celebration of Tatar ceremonial holiday.
