On 19 September 2020, a staff member of the Department of Guided Tours Organization of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Glavnova V. N. held an information and knowledge event on “Warfare” devoted to the Day of armorer. The holiday appeared in Russia in 2010 due to the most famous armorer of modernity – Mikhail Timofeyevich Kalashnikov who created a legendary AK-47 assault rifle.
With the emergence and spread of an art of metalworking, a profession such as armorer appeared. With every passing year, with every century, these specialists perfected samples of manufactured arms. Currently, weapon produced in Russia is rightfully considered one of the best in the world. This professional holiday in Russia is dedicated to those people who designs and manufactures arms building on age-old traditions and the most advanced technologies.
The guests learned about the history of emergence of the holiday, the traditions of Russian gunsmith manufacturing and achievements of our armorers of the past and present. The visitors had a tour, during which they became acquainted with weapons of Bulgar warriors, with the tricks of medieval weapons and knew about production technologies of certain weapons.
