On 14 February 2020, in the museum of “Bolgar tea party” a staff member of the Department of Guided Tours Organization of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Rogachyova M. N. held an interactive information and entertainment event on “A tea table is a soul of a family” for the students of the 1st grade of Bolgar Comprehensive School №2. The purpose of this activity was to provoke children’s interest in folk traditions of a tea party in Russia; to develop their understanding, respect and love to the cultural heritage of homeland.
The museum of “Bolgar tea party” reveals the peculiarities of a traditional tea party of Russians and Tatars, which dominate in number in Republic of Tatarstan. A tea party is not only a tradition showing good principles of peoples’ culture and features of its nature, but also a school of good manners where people studied etiquette of a tea ceremony. A tea party in Russia has a deep family nature, but it is always open for guests.
During the event, children became acquainted with a rich and interesting collection of samovars of the museum. They learnt about customs and traditions of a tea party of peoples living in the republic. Students studied a samovar in a playful way and actively collected cards with its parts. They also formed old Russian and Tatar proverbs about a samovar and a tea party, knew about items for a tea ceremony and solved puzzles with great interest. At the end of the event, children with pleasure tasted a treat for tea – sugar bagels.
