On may 9, the Ancient Bulgarians were visited by the participants of the epic International research expedition “Rurik’s Way”.
It is organized by NGOs MIRACLE DVPK “Holy Russian epic heroes” in the framework of the cultural program “the Tale of bygone Years: Where have gone the Russian Land”.
The reenactors arrived here on the ancient Russian boat called “Serpent Gorynych”, built at the shipyard of wooden shipbuilding in the Spiritual and cultural Kremlin “Bogatyrskaya Sloboda” under the patronage of the Russian Institute of cultural and natural heritage.D. S. Likhachev, with the support of the Russian military-historical society. The expedition passes through the water routes of our glorious ancestors – from Zhiguli mountains to the Baltic (in ancient times – Varangian) sea. The main objective of this historical reconstruction — by historical navigation experiment, with the help of archaeology and the reconstruction of ancient wooden shipbuilding 1X century to discover the mysterious geographic place of residence of the Rus Vikings in the vastness of the Baltic sea. This happened at a historical moment of calling three brothers of Varangian princes – Rurik, Sineus and Truvor to reign in Ladoga and Novgorod, the founders of the Rurik dynasty.
Travelers on a sail-rowing boat, built on the experience of Karelian masters, only with the help of physical force and wind pass this most important for our history initial path: thanks to him Ancient Russia became great Russia. Along the way, the expedition participants will visit Samara, Ulyanovsk regions, Tatarstan, Chuvashia, Mari El, Nizhny Novgorod, Kostroma, Ivanovo, Yaroslavl, Vologda regions, Karelia, Leningrad region, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Kaliningrad region.
