Russian Christmas Time! Fun two weeks, from Christmas to Christening. A short time of Russian carnival. Costumed, fortune-telling, mask… . Yuletide believers are waiting impatiently, because January 6 ends one of the long posts.
This holiday under different names is known among all the Eastern peoples of Russia. Tatars, Bashkirs and Udmurts celebrate Nardugan, Chuvash-Nartăvan. The holiday symbolizes the awakening of nature and the triumph of life. In celebration with ritual songs mummers went from house to house, wishing everyone joy, health, prosperity.
The exhibition presents the traditions and customs of the holiday of two peoples: Russian and Chuvash. This-Russian and Chuvash national costumes, objects for divination and masks, all that was necessary for the rites.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by students of the art Department of MAO DO “Bulgarian children’s art school”. Under the guidance of a researcher of the Museum L. Sabirov, the children learned a lot of important and interesting things about this ancient folk festival.
