On August 10, Svyatoslav Pavlovich Kuznetsov, an honored builder of Mari El and an honorary builder of Russia, visited the Suvar City History Museum.
Svyatoslav Pavlovich is our fellow citizen. He was born and raised in the village of Mihailovka located eight kilometers from the village of Kuznechiha. After graduating from the local school, he continued his studies in Yoshkar‑Ola, at the forestry-engineering institute. The future builder’s career developed rapidly: at the age of 31, he was appointed deputy minister of forestry of the Republic of Mari El.
The purpose of the visit was the guest’s desire to introduce his family to the history of his native region. N. M. Sadrieva, head of the local history department, who had studied at the same school as Svyatoslav Pavlovich, prepared a special program for the guests.
At the entrance to the museum, the delegation was greeted by the “ruler” and the “princess” of Suvar who treated the guests to traditional Tatar chak‑chak. After a warm introduction, the “journey into the past” began — an interactive tour of the history of one of the most important centers of Volga Bulgaria.
The story of how Suvar became a major craft and trade center by the mid‑10th century was seamlessly complemented by quizzes and contests. The competition for the honorary title of “Ruler of Suvar” was particularly exciting. Based on the results of all the tests, this title was rightfully awarded to Svyatoslav Pavlovich’s son, Andrey Kuznetsov.
The three‑hour meeting took place in an atmosphere of lively communication. In conclusion, N. M. Sadrieva presented the guests with commemorative certificates “Connoisseur of the history of Suvar — 2026”, chocolate medals, themed booklets and souvenirs.
The day ended with a hearty tea party with pies and chak-chak from Bolgar bakers. Over a cup of tea, the guests recalled their school years, life in Mihailovka and Kuznechiha. This meeting was not just an excursion for all participants, but a real return to the roots and youth. The guests left words of sincere gratitude in the review book for the warm welcome and the unforgettable impressions they received at the museum.
