On July 17, an employee of the department of museum and educational activities at the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Yu. A. Bitunova held for tourists the event “Protected areas of the Motherland”.
Today, there are more than a hundred nature reserves in Russia. The Bolgar Museum-Reserve founded in 1969 is the northernmost monument of medieval Muslim architecture in the world, as well as an object of historical and cultural heritage of the Republic of Tatarstan. On this day, during the event, tourists walked through the ancient city of Bolgar and visited the Museum of the Bulgarian Civilization where they learned about the history of the city, its unique architectural monuments, and the numerous archaeological finds displayed in the museum. They also learned about the establishment and development of the museum-reserve, as well as the research and archaeological excavations conducted on its premises.
