On May 22, an employee of the department of museum and educational activities at the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Yu. A. Bitunova gave a lecture on “The origins of Slavic writing” to students of Bolgar secondary school No. 1.
May 24 is the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture. It is a day of honor for the holy enlighteners Cyril and Methodius who gave the Slavs the writing system and alphabet that we still use today. During the lecture, the students learned a lot of new and interesting information about the history of the emergence and development of Slavic writing, as well as the differences between modern and early Cyrillic.
