On March 31, a researcher of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve N.O. Ahundov held an event for schoolchildren from Novosibirsk titled “We fell for the Motherland, but it was saved” dedicated to the end of the Battle of Rzhev (1942-1943).
The Battle of Rzhev was a series of battles fought by the forces of the Western and Kalinin fronts against the army group “Center” in the Rzhev-Sychyovky direction from January 8, 1942, to March 31, 1943, during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
At the event, the students learned about the stages of this major battle during the Great Patriotic War, as well as its impact on the entire front line. The Battle of Rzhev was of great strategic importance. Thanks to the courage and heroism of the defenders of Rzhev, the enemy retreated. During the event, a documentary was presented with footage of the tragic and heroic events.
The event was attended by 18 schoolchildren.
