On March 27, 2026, the XXVI Interregional Conference “History and Modernity of the Middle Volga Region” took place in the city of Ulyanovsk on the basis of the I.A. Goncharov Historical and Memorial Museum of Local Lore. Employees of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve attended the conference: J.G. Muhametshin, R.M. Vagapov, I.D. Muhametshin, O.P. Osintseva, G.M. Musina, G.R. Prokofieva, and N.O. Ahundov.
J.G. Muhametshin’s presentation “The numismatic material from the Amoksarinsky burial ground” focused on the discovery of Bulgar coins and coin-shaped pendants in the graves of the 10th-12th centuries. R.M. Vagapov’s report “A metal arrowhead with a tulip mark from the collections of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve” focuses on a unique object from the funds of the museum-reserve and its unusual interpretation. I.D. Muhametshin’s report “Counting tokens as a historical source” explores counting tokens and their use among various nations in the 16th-18th centuries. N.O. Ahundov’s report “The spread of Christianity in Tatarstan until the mid-16th century” delves into the emergence of Christianity in the republic. The report by G.M. Musina and G.R. Prokofieva “Musa Jalil: life after death” is dedicated to the remarkable Tatar poet Musa Jalil and his work. The report by O.P. Osintseva “Nikolskoye: the pearl of the Spassky Region” explores the history of the ancient village of Nikolskoye. The conference was held in a fruitful and friendly atmosphere.
