On February 26, the head of the “Museum of Bolgar Civilization” department T.G. Zarifullina and the museum supervisor T.P. Kamaeva conducted an information and entertainment lesson “Visiting the Snowman” for the students of Bolgar secondary school No. 1.
The children got acquainted with the history of the snowman in an accessible form. In Russia, snowmen have been sculpted since ancient pagan times and revered as spirits of winter. People treated them, like Frost, with due respect, and asked for help and to reduce the duration of severe frosts.
The children participated in the conversation with interest, telling how they sculpt snowmen, who takes part in the modeling, and what other attributes can be added to a snowman besides traditional carrots and buckets.
In the entertainment part, the schoolchildren actively participated in fun games and contests such as “Draw a snowman”, “Ball on a racket”, “Health thermometer”, “Hit the target with a snowball”, “Frost is not great, but it does not tell you to stand”, “Fruit for speed”, “Colored palms”, “Tug of War” and others. Then the results of the team games and competitions were summed up. As always, friendship won, and no one was left without a sweet prize.
12 schoolchildren took part in the lesson.
