On February 19, a researcher of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Krivosheyeva S. V. held an interactive event “Nobody but us” dedicated to Defender of the Fatherland Day for 16 students of Bolgar sanatorium boarding school.
In Russia, February 23 is celebrated as a men’s day, both by colleagues and families, and is widely observed. On this day, women veterans, home front workers of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, and female military personnel are also congratulated.
The students learned about the history of the holiday, and how its name has changed since 1922 to the present day. They actively participated in a discussion about the meaning of the concept of “patriotism,” sharing their opinions and providing examples.
In the entertainment part of the event, the children demonstrated their agility, wit and speed by participating in fun contests, quizzes, and puzzles involving military equipment.
At the end of the event, the girls congratulated the boys on the holiday as future defenders of the Fatherland.
