Representatives of the World Congress of Tatars visited the Spassky district on a working visit. The delegation was led by Irek Sharipov, Deputy Head of the Executive Committee and Head of the Committee for Work with Branches in Tatarstan. The program of the visit was extensive and covered several important topics.
The main purpose of the visit was to record a radio broadcast titled “Tatars: my own melody in my home” and to meet with activists from the local branch of the Congress. The project, which the World Congress of Tatars is implementing together with GTRK, allows us to tell about the life of Tatars in different parts of the republic.
The head of the Spassky district Roman Islanov spoke about the district’s place in the life of Tatarstan, its economy, demographics, and plans for future.
They also discussed national education, folk culture, and religious life. Local activists who contribute to the development of the district shared their stories.
A roundtable discussion was held at the city’s House of Culture where the board of the World Congress of Tatars met with members of the local branch. They discussed current issues and plans.
G. Yu. Sagirova, head of the “Museum Street” department at the Bolgar Museum-Reserve, presented a report titled “Bolgar is the keeper of the traditions of the Tatar people”. She was awarded a letter of appreciation for her significant contributions to the development of language, culture, and the preservation of the traditions and customs of the Tatar people.
