On February 14, a methodologist of the excursion organization department of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Glavnova V.N. held an educational and entertaining event “Walk, Maslenitsa” for 25 students of Bolgar secondary school No. 2 as part of the All-Russian campaign “Folk Culture for Schoolchildren”.
At the event, the children listened with interest to the history of the holiday and watched a video called “Hello, Maslenitsa,” which explained that the tradition of baking pancakes was a way for people to try to win the favor of the sun and convince it to warm the frozen ground.
The students answered questions from a quiz and actively participated in contests related to Maslenitsa, including the “Running frying pans” relay race and the “Pass the hot pancake” game.
The event was a fun-filled experience, and it ended with a tea party with pancakes.
