On February 13, an employee of the department of museum and educational activities of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Sabirzyanova L.I. gave a lecture “Winter Amusements in Russia” to four students attending the House of Children’s Creativity in the Spassky municipal district of the Republic of Tatarstan.
During the lecture, the children learned about the games played by their ancestors and their significance. In Russia, as in any other country, the people have always loved games. They were truly widespread and varied, and they were not just a form of entertainment; games also fostered social interaction and served as a primary means of physical education, promoting strength, agility, speed, accuracy and other qualities.
The children were educated about the importance and necessity of sports competitions for maintaining physical health, and modern sports were also discussed at the lecture.
The schoolchildren enjoyed sharing their favorite winter games. Some talked about sledding down a steep hill. Others talked about playing snowballs, hiding behind snowdrifts, and aiming at their opponents with snowballs. Some remembered how they skated on ice, fearing to fall, and many talked about their love for skiing. Snowmen were a special part of winter activities. Kids enthusiastically shared their experiences of rolling huge snowballs, striving to make them as large and smooth as possible.
At the end of the class, the children drew beautiful pictures.
