On January 16, an information and entertainment event “Yuletide is a merry time” was held by an employee of the excursion management department of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Rogachyova M.N. for 13 3rd grade students of Bolgar secondary school No. 1.
Christmas is one of the main Christian holidays and a public holiday in more than 100 countries around the world. This great feast is set in memory of the birth of Jesus Christ. After Christmas, on the second day in many countries, the most fun and mysterious time began – Yuletide (Svyatki), the holy days that lasted from Christmas to Epiphany. Yuletide is a time of good deeds, congratulations, gifts, festivities, special rituals and fortune telling.
During the event, the students became acquainted with the history of the holidays, with the traditions and customs accompanying these holidays in Russia, learned the meaning of the words: “svyatki”, “Christmas Eve”, “carols”. The children participated with great interest in folk folklore – “carols”, read poems about Christmas, solved riddles and gladly took part in ancient folk games. As was customary in Russia on Christmas days, all participants of the event received treats.
