On April 16, the head of the department of museum and educational activities of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Hramova G.K. for the students of Spassky College of Industrial Technologies held an informative event “Bolgar is a UNESCO World Heritage Site” timed to coincide with the International Day of Monuments and Sites.
From the report and colorful presentation, the participants of the event learned that in 2010 the implementation of the complex project “Cultural Heritage – Sviyazhsk Island-Town and Ancient Bolgar” began, in which great importance was given to the creation of museum and tourist infrastructure. During this time, three significant museums were built: the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization, the Memorial sign in honor of the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgars in 922, the museum “Healer’s house”, and a unique exposition – “The History of the Assumption Church” in the architectural monument of XVIII century was created. Four residential houses were museumified on Nazarovyh Street. Another object attracting the attention of visitors with its unique architecture and adjacent landscape was the complex “White Mosque”.
The event continued in the form of a conversation about the modern life of the museum-reserve. The students concluded that the main event was the inclusion in 2014 the Bolgar Historical and Archaeological Complex in the UNESCO World Heritage List. This was a recognition of the importance of Bolgar at the international level, which also affected the growth of attendance of the museum-reserve.
At the end of the event, the participants watched the documentary-fiction movie “Ibn Fadlan” dedicated to the adoption of Islam by Volga Bulgaria in 922.
