April 14, 2025. Lecture “The market of Bolgar city”.

On April 14, in the Antonovskaya secondary school a researcher of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Muhametshin I.D. delivered a lecture “The market of Bolgar city” for the students of grades 7, 8 and 10.
The pupils learned many interesting facts about the trade of ancient Bolgar. The main trade was located in the place Aga-Bazar on the bank of the Volga. As early as at the beginning of the 10th century, merchants from different countries gathered here. In the epoch of Ulus Dzhuchi, Bolgar was revived thanks to international trade.
The listeners were told that on the territory of Bolgar archeologists investigated a large market building. There were found craft workshops for processing amber, non-ferrous metals, glass, as well as several thousand Golden Horde coins, lead seals, weights, scales and other trade equipment. All this speaks about the high level of trade in the city of Bolgar.
Great interest of schoolchildren was aroused by the story about ancient cities on the great Silk Road and the dangers that awaited travelers.
