On February 28, an employee of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Galimullina N.R. for 7 children of Bolgar sanatorium boarding school delivered a lecture “Escape from Hell” timed to the 80th anniversary of the escape of Soviet prisoners of war from the most secret missile base in Germany – Peenemunde. Largely because of the feat of the Russian pilot, this German missile and research center was unable to complete the so-called “weapon of retaliation”, with which Hitler planned to turn the tide of World War II. According to the memoirs of M.P. Devyatayev, two autobiographical books were written – “Escape from Hell” and “Flight to the Sun”.
In the course of the lecture, the students received rather complicated information about those distant formidable years in an accessible form. They learned how the feat of our fellow citizen was unique and, we can even say, inimitable. Children were told about the feat of Soviet citizens who, by the will of tragic circumstances being in captivity, did not stop fighting, did not lose faith in the victory, in the right cause, did not bow their heads before the enemy and continued to fight. After all, with his escape our compatriot brought the end of the war closer, not letting fascist Germany to gather forces. At the end of the event, in order to consolidate the proposed material, schoolchildren answered quiz questions and received small prizes.
