November 22, 2024. An event “The whole world begins with mom”.

On November 22, 2024, an employee of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Sabirzyanova L.I. for nine students attending the House of Children’s Creativity held an event “The whole world begins with mom” timed to coincide with Mother’s Day.
“Mom” is the main word for each of us, as well as the person behind it. The bond between mother and child is unbreakable and unshakable, like the power of love that unites them. It is not surprising that the world has its own, special days dedicated to moms. In our country, this holiday is marked on the last Sunday of November. Russian Mother’s Day in 2024 falls on November 24.
Even the ancient Greeks had a cult of mothers: in March, in honor of Rhea, the ancestress of the gods, various mysteries were held. In Britain, the fourth Sunday of Lent was considered “Mothering Sunday”. In XVII-XIX centuries, people on this day congratulated all the mothers of the country.
The first attempt to establish Mother’s Day in Russia took place in 1915. This day fell on December 1 but was not fixed in the national calendar. Later, already in the USSR, teacher Elmira Huseynova came forward with the initiative to create Mother’s Day, and on October 30, 1988, she held it in one of Baku schools.
In the 1990s, the idea of Mother’s Day was revisited. The initiator was Alevtina Aparina, a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, a member of the Committee on Women, Family and Youth. In 1998, the President of the Russian Federation signed a decree on the establishment of the holiday, the purpose of which was to remind about the important role of mothers in the life of every person.
During the event, the children learned about the history of the holiday, its customs and traditions, also participated in a quiz, solved crossword puzzles and prepared colorful greeting cards.
