On November 12, 2024, an employee of the department “Museum Street” of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Sagirova L. Sh. for the students of Bolgar secondary school № 1 in the school museum held an event “Women’s jewelry – hasite”.
Hasite is a status detail of clothing. It is an oval-shaped breast jewelry embroidered with pearls and plaques, decorated with precious stones. Hasite gives the impression of a mosaic. There were several types of textile-based hasite using only precious metals and gemstones.
At the event, the children heard a riddle about the jewelry and waited with interest to see what it would be about. For the students, this unknown Tatar jewelry became very interesting, especially for the girls. The children looked at what stones were used and how they were stitched. They talked about precious stones and fabrics (calico, brocade). Pupils learned that earrings, rings, bracelets, nakosniki, beads were everyday jewelry, and hasite were worn on holidays, on visits, on trips to the city.
The children looked at the books “Gold and silver of Kazan Tatars” and “Tatar folk decorative art” by F. Valeev.
The event was attended by 18 schoolchildren.
