From 19 to 22 September 2024, the staff of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Prokofieva G.R. and Sheronova T.V. took part in the All-Russian Congress of tourist information centers. The event was held in Nizhny Novgorod, the participants were representatives of 48 regions of the country, as well as tourism specialists from the twin cities of Nizhny Novgorod – Hefei, Minsk, Gomel and Suhum.
Mikhail Ushakov, President of the National Association of Tourist Information Organizations, addressed the audience. He spoke about the value of Nizhny Novgorod’s experience for the entire tourist sphere of Russia. Ushakov emphasized that the capital of the Volga region now has a leading position in the country’s tourism market, and all colleagues want to understand how the city was able to achieve such success.
The theme of this year’s Congress is ‘Formation and promotion of social and cultural space of cities’. The business program covers a wide range of topics: the formation and promotion of socio-cultural space of cities; the role of children’s and youth tourism as a tool to increase the prestige of domestic tourism; the experience and prospects of using the status of unofficial tourist ‘capitals’ as an impetus in the development of tourism in cities; the issues of twinning as a cultural and historical practice and the integration of twinning projects in the strategy of tourism development; the problem of the prestige of work in tourism among the younger generation; the tools for promoting tourism communities in social networks.
The participants discussed successful regional cases and practical examples of TIC interaction with local communities and tourism businesses. The program of the event also included practical field sessions and cultural events, which allowed participants to become better acquainted with the tourism potential of Nizhny Novgorod.
The Government of Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Nizhny Novgorod City Administration, and the National Association of Tourist Information Organizations organized the congress.
