On 20 September 2024, for 16 schoolchildren from the Republic of Chuvashia an employee of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Rogachyova M.N. conducted an interactive informative and cognitive event on ‘Masters-goldsmiths’.
Many finds presented in the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization tell that in those distant times Bolgar jewelers were great masters of their craft, creating unique jewelry.
The children were given an interactive tour of the museum’s exposition where they became acquainted with the findings from the Bolgar settlement related to the jewelry craft. During the event, schoolchildren saw a great variety of unique jewelry tools and ornaments, heard ancient legends connected with them, actively performed the proposed tasks. Walking around the territory of the Bolgar settlement, the pupils visited the interactive platform of jewelry making, learned from the master-jeweler about working tools, their application, different ways and forms of work in such a complex and unusual business. The children watched the work of the master with great interest, asked questions and tried to work with ‘ancient’ tools themselves: to draw wire on a drawing machine or to drill a hole with a flywheel drill. This day the children discovered many new things and got bright and unforgettable impressions.
