On 18-21 September 2024, in Ulyanovsk on the basis of the I.A. Goncharov Ulyanovsk Regional Museum of Local Lore took place the eighth General Meeting of the interregional public organization ‘Council of Museums of the Volga Federal District’. The Council of Museums was established in 2016 to coordinate the activities of the museum community of the Volga Federal District and organize its interaction with municipal and state authorities and public associations. Today it includes 90 museums from 14 regions of the Volga Federal District. At the 2024 meeting, new museums were admitted to the community.
In different years, the General Meeting was held in the cities of Ulyanovsk, Kazan, Saransk, Nizhny Novgorod, Cheboksary, Yoshkar-Ola and Saratov. Its participants were directors and staff of museums of the Volga Federal District and invited experts.
The General Meeting summarized the results of the Contest of professional skills of museum workers in the regions of the Volga Federal District 2024. Within the framework of the business program, there were six sections for the exchange of experience on topical issues of museum life, in which the staff of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve took part. Deputy Director for Science A.N. Faskhutdinov participated in the section on military-patriotic education and historical enlightenment by museum means, and the head of the museum-educational department G.K. Hramova at the section ‘Museum. Family. Traditions’ made a report ’Realization of events dedicated to the Year of Family. From the experience of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve’.
The cultural program will include the opening of the exhibition of the State Literary Museum of Yanka Kupala (Republic of Belarus) ‘You are far away. You are close. You are near’, acquaintance with the exhibition from the “Art-Donbass Art Museum” and the opening of the photo exhibition summarizing the results of the VIII interregional festival – photo contest “Ecology – Safety – Life”.
