On 29 August 2024, L.I. Sabirzyanova, an employee of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve, held for 23 guests an event on ‘Tatarstan is my native land’ timed to coincide with the Day of the Republic of Tatarstan.
Every year on 30 August, all residents of the republic celebrate one of the most important state holidays – the Day of the Republic of Tatarstan. This national holiday dates back to 1990. On 30 August 1990, the Supreme Soviet of the republic adopted the declaration of state sovereignty of the Tatar SSR.
For the first time the Day of the Republic of Tatarstan was celebrated in 1991, which was announced the day before, namely 29 August. It was decided to consider this holiday a non-working day. The birthday of Kazan, one of the most beautiful cities in Russia, is also marked on the same day.
During the event, the guests learnt the history of the holiday, and how it is celebrated in different parts of our republic. The visitors were also told about the state symbols of Tatarstan, the legends and myths of the native land. At the event, the tourists visited the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization, the Quran Museum and saw the preserved architectural monuments.
