15 May 2024. An event on “Everything begins with the family”.

On 15 May 2024, an employee of the Bolgar Museum-Reserve Bitunova Yu. A. held an event on “Everything begins with the family” for the students of Bolgar boarding school for children with disabilities, timed to coincide with the International Day of the Family. The event was attended by 16 children.
International Family Day is a celebration dedicated to families. For the first time, such a holiday was thought about in 1989. The UN Committee put forward the idea of creating a date dedicated to the smallest unit of society. On this day, it was planned to highlight the most acute topics of family relations and to create a plan for solving problems by public forces. In 1993, the UN General Assembly proclaimed 15 May as the official date of the International Day of Families. The Russian Federation began to celebrate this day in 1995.
Family is the most important thing in life for each of us; it is close and dear people, those whom we love, from whom we take an example, about whom we take care, to whom we wish happiness. It is in the family that we learn love, responsibility, care and respect.
During the event, the students learnt about the history of the holiday, how it is celebrated in Russia and around the world, as well as about family values and traditions of different nations of the world. The pupils guessed riddles and actively participated in contests. At the end of the event, the children received small gifts.
