On 21 November 2023, at the exhibition area of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization took place the opening of the exhibition “The history of one object. From needle to sewing machine”.
Sewing machines in Russia have an interesting history. It is believed that they existed in XIV century and were used to sew the cloths of sails. Even much earlier, there were already tools – the forebears of machines, when primitive people sewed skins for clothes. Thus, little by little, the sewing craft was transformed, and the clothes that were so essential to man were created.
Only thanks to the American inventor Isaac Zinger, the very first sewing machine in the world appeared in 1850. It came to Russia in XIX century and won love among different estates. You can learn about all this and much more at the exhibition.
Fifteen students of Bolgar Children’s Art School attended the event.
