10 November 2023. Opening of the exhibition “Khorovod of crafts”.

On 10 November 2023, at the exhibition area of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization took place the opening of the exhibition “Khorovod of crafts” dedicated to the achievements of Bolgar artisans of X-XIV centuries.
Volga Bulgaria was a country with a highly developed economy. It was based on agriculture, handicraft production, internal and external trade. In the economy of Volga Bulgaria of X – early XIII centuries, urban crafts played an extremely important role. Its products were exported not only to the domestic market, but also to other countries.
Visitors to the exhibition will be able to get acquainted with the most important crafts of the Volga Bulgars, such as glassmaking, tannery and bone-cutting, bronze foundry, coppersmithing and blacksmithing, jewelry art and pottery. The exhibition presents household items and tools of artisans from the collections of Bolgar Museum-Reserve.
