On 27 January 2023, on the exhibition platform of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization opened the exhibition “Little monuments of great history” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the formation of the USSR. Coins and banknotes of the Soviet period are presented to the audience. Soviet change coins in different years were minted from silver, copper, Melchior, aluminum bronze etc. For commemorative coins they used not only gold and silver, but also platinum and palladium.
In Russia, gold coins were not made from 1911, silver rubles – from 1915, fine silver and copper – from 1917. After the revolution, tsarist silver and copper coins gradually disappeared from circulation. Soviet coins began to be minted in 1921-1923 with the coat of arms of the RSFSR. They were put into circulation along with the USSR coins of 1924-1925. Silver coins of 10, 15, 20 kopecks of 1924-1931 were replaced in 1931 with nickel coins. Practically, the USSR coinage in this shape existed until 1991 when the entire monetary system was switched to the Russian symbols.
There were 19 people at the opening of the exhibition.
