On November 25, 2022, an exhibition “It is the corners that make a home” opened in the exhibition area of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization. Most people associate the word “hut” with the word “village”. This association is correct. “Hut” was the name of the dwelling located in the countryside.
Seventeen students from Bolgar Children’s Art School were invited to the opening of the exhibition.
The exhibition presents to the attention of the audience the life of the peasantry at the turn of XIX-XX centuries through the models of huts and household items: tools, clothing, utensils. In the exhibition hall, visitors were interested in everything: smart festive sundresses safely stored in large chests; coarse birch-bark tubs, indispensable in the economy; a cradle, which cradled more than one generation of peasant families. Here kids learned how rubel and oven-fork looked like, held in their hands a solid cast iron, learned how to iron clothes with the rubel and read the symbols of homespun towels.
At the end of the event, children gladly took part in the master class on ceramic souvenir painting and making a doll-amulet.
The exhibition runs until January 12, 2023.
