On 19 November 2022, as part of the project “Pushkin’s card” staff members of Bolgar Museum-Reserve held an interactive theatrical event on “Golden pages of history of Spassky uyezd” for the students of Burakovsky comprehensive school and the students from the village Kayuki of Spassky district.
At the event, children learned about the life of the uyezd town of Spassk in the 18-19 centuries. The characters of the theatrical program: Peter the Great, Catherine II, the Mayor and the noblewoman in thematic costumes highlighted the most striking historical events in the life of the district and the town. The program included elements of popular ballroom dances of the time and round dances, as well as parlor games: bingo and cards. Children were introduced to various kinds of needlework: spinning wool, embroidery, basket weaving. They were offered master classes on making dolls, amulets and painting gingerbread with white glaze.
Pupils with great pleasure joined in the performance, danced, played and participated in the master classes. Great interest was aroused by the costumes of the characters. At the end of the program, there was a photo shoot.
Each participant received a gift from the museum-reserve – a book by Rudenko K. A. “How people lived in Volga Bulgaria or a journey into XII century”. The event was attended by 32 schoolchildren.
