On November 18, the entire world celebrates the International Day of Islamic Art. The decision to celebrate was made at the 40th session of the UNESCO General Conference in 2019.
In the Muslim world, painting, architecture and other art reflect people’s perception of spirituality, values and what surrounds them. The main feature of this culture is the pursuit of beauty, which is a sign of divinity. Geometric shapes and ornaments as if reveal the codes of the language of the universe, and repeating patterns testify to its infinity. Applied art, on the other hand, tries to make everyday things beautiful.
On the World Islamic Art Day, it is especially appropriate to visit exhibitions revealing hitherto unknown pages of the history of Muslim civilization, to feel the spirit of Islamic art and visit museums dedicated to the beauty and splendor of Islamic art dating back many centuries.
To celebrate the Day of Islamic Art, the students of Bolgar Islamic Academy visited Bolgar Museum-Reserve where a research associate Musina G. M. told about the role of Muslim art in the modern world. During the short lecture, the students actively participated in the discussion, asked many questions and shared their knowledge. There were 11 students at the lecture.
