On 7 October 2021, a staff member of the Department of Guided Tours Organization of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Galimullina N. R. held an event on “Architectural heritage of Ancient Bolgar” for the students of the 9th grade of Bolgar sanatorium-type residential school. The event devoted to the World Architecture Day was held within the project “Pushkin’s card”.
Bolgar State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve, the northernmost monument of medieval Muslim architecture in the world, is a unique and the only example of Bolgar architecture of XIV century. It does not have analogues in the world and demonstrates the disappeared states such as Volga Bulgaria and the Golden Horde. Formation of town-planning skills of Bulgars had a centuries-old history and developed under the influence of many cultural roots. Bolgar urban culture soaked up architectural principals and achievements of many other peoples. Buildings of every historical period have their own particular characteristics.
During the event, the guests learned about the unique ancient monuments of the town: the Black chamber, the White chamber and the Small minaret. Kids knew how natural and climatic conditions of the region, trade-economic and scientific-cultural ties with neighbor states had an impact on the particularities of construction and the architectural appearance of Volga Bulgaria as a whole. Children had a quiz, and the winner received a memorable prize. At the end of the event, according to the ancient Tatar technology, kids made with their hands a small picture with the image of Bolgar monument.
