September 16, 2021. An information lesson on “Human behavior in a crowd”.

On 16 September 2021, a staff member of the Department of Guided Tours Organization of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Glavnova V. N. held an information lesson on “Human behavior in a crowd”.
Hundreds and thousands of people gather in a limited area when meetings, mass events, marches and demonstrations take place. A crowd is a complex, highly controversial, uncontrollable “biological organism”, which acts by its own laws and does not provide safety of participants.
Almost everyone involuntarily obeys the overpowering strength of a crowd. A person becomes aggressive, and his individual characteristics change because he thinks that he can go unpunished for his actions under cover of a crowd. But this is only temporary while crowd psychology is still in force. A crowd is like a natural disaster or man-caused damage emerging suddenly and sometimes having irreparable consequences (harm to health, injuries of varying severity etc.)
During the event, the participants learned about the reasons why a crowd appears, what to do when an uncontrolled crowd forms causing panic. The guests took part in a quiz and watched a video “Safe behavior of a man in a crowd”.
