July 29, 2021. An interactive lesson on “Fun and games of Volga Bulgars”.

On 29 July 2021, a research associate of the museum and educational department of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Vagapov R. Z. held an interactive lesson on “Fun and games of Volga Bulgars”.
Folk games were a part of everyday life of Volga Bulgars and the majority of the people in the Middle Volga region. These games were the main fun in festivals. They had a great educational significance and required the participants of games to be physically strong, clever and skillful, to have the presence of mind in every situation, to be indefatigable and persistent. Usually all games were held in the fresh air and in the open. It promoted physical development of the younger generation, training and preparation of youth for a difficult adult life. Volga Bulgars also loved board games, which developed attention, logical and figurative thinking.
At the lesson, the guests of Bolgar Museum-Reserve in an interactive form became acquainted with “Alquerque” and “Mill” – popular board games of Volga Bulgars. The participants knew the history of these games and their rules, and consolidated knowledge gained in the game.
