1 May 2021. A gastronomic festival “Chak-Chai”.

On 1 May 2021, on the territory of Bolgar Museum-Reserve took place the Third gastronomic festival “Chak-Chai” organized by the Agency of historic travels and event tours LLC “Journey into the past” together with Bolgar Museum-Reserve. The festival acquaints tourists with Tatar culture, gastronomic traditions and the history of emergence of chak-chak and baursak through interactive platforms, games, contests and master classes. It is the sweetest, brightest and merriest beginning of the tourist season 2021.
The main event of the festival was a competition among producers of chak-chak for the “tastiest chak-chak 2021”. Ten collectives of leading manufacturers of chak-chak of RT and the nearest regions participated in the competition. Everyone could try this sweet national dish of Tatarstan and cast their votes for the treat they liked.
During the opening ceremony, the Head of the Executive Committee of Spassky municipal district V. A. Osokin, Deputy Director for Science of Bolgar Museum-Reserve A. N. Faskhutdinov and the Director-General of the Agency “Journey into the past” A. E. Kokurin welcomed the participants of the festival. They congratulated everybody on May holidays and the festival “Chak-Chai”, wished a wonderful spring mood, warmth, peace and well-being. Many different platforms worked at the event: historical platform, blacksmith and pottery master classes, archery and shooting crossbows, performances by musical and theatrical groups, children’s platform. By popular vote, Consumer Union of Laishevsky district of Tatarstan became the winner of tasting competition “The best chak-chak” among producers. The second place was given to Kazan “Bakery №1”, and the third place was taken by Spassky bakery of Bolgar.
On that day, large numbers of tourists from Tatarstan and many other regions of Russia visited Bolgar Museum-Reserve.
