No war knew such a number of women who took part in bloody battles, and it is the main feature of World War II. In 1941, more than 700 000 women were already enlisted in the armed forces of USSR.
Women of the formidable 1940s happened to save the world. They were nurses, doctors, medics, scouts, operators. Gentle, kind women’s hands saved many soldiers from death. Era of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 becomes distant memory. Fewer and fewer living witnesses of the war stay with us. The exhibition aims to persuade the younger generation to know the history of the country and to keep forever in their heart gratitude for people who won peace and tranquility on earth.
