8 April 2021. An event on “Stars become higher”.

On 8 April 2021, a staff member of the department “Museum Street” of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Bitunova Yu. A. held an event on “Stars become higher” for the students of Bolgar comprehensive school №1.
On 12 April 1961, a citizen of the Soviet Union senior lieutenant Yu. A. Gagarin was the first in the world who circled the Earth on a spaceship “Vostok”. His name became famous around the world. The first cosmonaut was quickly promoted to major and received the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union.
In honor of the first human orbital flight around the Earth, Cosmonautics Day was officially established in our country in April 1962. Later, 12 April was not only Cosmonautics Day, it became World Aviation and Space Day. In 2011, this day became also the International Day of Human Space Flight at the initiative of the UN General Assembly.
During the event, the students learned about the history of emergence of the holiday. They heard the names of famous scientists and cosmonauts who made invaluable contributions to the development of space. Kids actively participated in a quiz answering the questions and sharing their knowledge about space.
