On 20 November 2020, a staff member of the Department of Guided Tours Organization of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Bitunova Y. A. held an information and knowledge event on “Children are everything” for the students of the 4th grade of Bolgar Comprehensive School №1.
On 20 November, Universal Children’s Day is celebrated. The date was not chosen accidentally. It is remarkable that on this day in 1959, the General Assembly adopted the Declaration on the Rights of the Child. The document united 10 basic principles and declared its ultimate aim to “provide children with a happy childhood”. In 1989, the Convention on the Rights of the Child was adopted. It commits all countries to give children a good life. A convention as an international document differs from a declaration in that a convention is an obligation of a state to follow precisely this international treaty, if representative of this state signed it. A declaration is an appeal to peoples and states to comply with the provisions recorded in it. In accordance with the Convention on the Rights of the Child, a small citizen is taken under the protection of the state from the moment of birth.
During the event, the kids saw a presentation and learned about their rights and obligations. There also was a quiz to consolidate the knowledge gained.
