26 October 2020. An information and knowledge event on “Jewellery making in Volga Bulgaria”.

On 26 October 2020, a staff member of the Department of Guided Tours Organization of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Rogachyova M.N. held an information and knowledge event on “Jewellery making in Volga Bulgaria” in the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization. It was an offline event held for the purpose of deeper and more thematic introduction of visitors with the museum exposition.
Visitors of the site had a virtual tour of the exposition and became acquainted with a rich archaeological collection from the ancient town of Bolgar telling about jeweller’s craft. The guests saw a wide variety of unique items of Bolgar jewelers. Jewelry and household items made by Bolgar artisans show that they were good at what they did and achieved high perfection and artistic mastery in their work. Most of jewelry are very rare and unusual and they have a function of protecting an owner. They relate to ancient stories and beliefs of Volga Bulgars, which the visitors heard about. The guests also knew about working tools of masters-jewelers, about their purpose, application and different ways and forms of work in this field.
Archaeological finds presented in the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization give more information that in those days Bolgar jewelers were professionals of their sphere and left rich inheritance to the world treasury of jewellery art.
