On 18 September 2020, in the exhibition area of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization opened an exhibit “The 100th anniversary of formation of TASSR. The history of the state symbols” devoted to the 100th anniversary of formation of Tatar Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.
Tatarstan has an ancient history and rich culture. After the proclamation of State sovereignty on 30 August 1990, the Republic of Tatarstan needed new symbols.
On 29 November 1991, the Supreme Council of TASSR approved a new flag. A combination of green, white and red colors symbolizes Tatarstan as a renewed republic with pure thoughts and mature life force for the development of its statehood.
In 1992, a new coat of arms was established. It is designed in the colors of the flag of Tatarstan and has a round shape. The central image of the coat of arms is a winged leopard – a patron of the residents of the republic and its peoples. The leopard is depicted in the background of the red disk of the sun. The red sun on the coat of arms of Tatarstan means a good omen, success, happiness and life. There is a round shield on the left side of the leopard, which means the legal, economic and force protection of the citizens of Tatarstan. The coat of arms of the republic establishes such human and moral values as goodness, justice, prosperity of citizens, friendship between peoples, peace and progress.
The exhibition tells about the historical importance of the significant event – formation of TASSR in 1920, which had an influence on further development of the republic within the next 100 years. The exhibit introduces to the most important stages of statehood, the major milestones in political, economic and cultural life of Tatarstan and the history of symbols of the republic.
