On 8 September 2020, a staff member of the Department of Guided Tours Organization of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Galimullina N. R. held an interactive and knowledge event on “Live and learn” dedicated to International Literacy Day. This day established by UNESCO in 1966 is celebrated for the 55th time this year.
Today more than 700 million uneducated people live in the world. There are those who has never seen books. More than 70 million children are among them. This problem is of particular relevance in third world countries with small economies where there are wars and civil unrest. All this was a prerequisite for the establishment of the holiday.
During the event, the visitors knew many interesting things about the holiday and got some information how education and literacy developed on ancient Bolgar land, which promoted the development of science here many centuries ago. The guests saw ancient writing implements, which are on display in the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization.
