30 July 2020. Opening of the exhibition “The history of the town”.

On 30 July 2020, the exhibition “The history of the town” opened in the exhibition area of the Museum of Bulgarian Civilization. A stationary exhibition told about the inhabitants of the county town Spassk-Kuibyshev and peoples who passed the history of the town from generation to generation. The townspeople are workers, artisans, employees, the urban intelligentsia and housewives. They are not wealthy but with their own lifestyle.
The exhibition included handcrafted furniture. A landlady sitting on a sofa is dressed in a handmade costume; a flirty hat is on her head. There is a big mirror with a small table by the wall. The most important piece of furniture in the room is a big cupboard. A homely and warm atmosphere, namely an interior of one of habitable rooms of 1920s and 1930s was presented to visitors. Typical atmosphere of a typical county town, but the town is long gone – it disappeared in the waters of Kuibyshev reservoir in the early 1950s. People moved to a new place taking with them all of their belongings. Now these things are in the museum, and they are as an illustrated page from the book about past life.
There were items from the collection of Bolgar Museum-reserve at the exhibit: women’s costume, furniture and other household items of 1920s and 1930s.
The head of the department of exhibition activity of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Gatina Y. P. opened the exhibition.
