On 6 March 2020, a staff member of the Department of Guided Tours Organization of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Gaifutdinova O. A. held an information and knowledge event on “Great women of Russia” for the students of the 5th grade of Bolgar special boarding school for children with limited opportunities. This activity was devoted to International Women’s Day on 8 March.
This holiday appeared in 1910 at the initiative of German revolutionary Clara Zetkin. In her intention, the day of 8 March was supposed to be the day of all women’s fight for equality.
The history of Russia rich in the names of outstanding rulers, generals, diplomats, educators and cultural figures has many female names whose activity played a crucial role in the destiny of the country. Here there are also millions of ordinary Russian women, and their names do not leave the pages of press today.
Women-scientists, empresses, women-writers – they were the ones who scrupulously built and systematically destroyed the careers of great men changing the course of history and culture. These women not once were ahead of the time, showed a real restraint and incredible firmness. We admire them and still try to be like Princess Olga, Katherine II, Sofia Kovalevskaya, Anna Ahmatova and others.
During the event with the use of a presentation, the kids learned about the names of great women who left a trace in the history of our state. The children listened to the information with attention, answered the questions amicably and solved rebuses.
