On 7 February 2020, a staff member of the Department of Guided Tours Organization of Bolgar Museum-Reserve Sabirzyanova L.I. held a lecture on “Heroes of Spassky District” for the students of groups 8417 and 8514 in Spassky College of sectoral technology.
On 1 September 1939, Fascist Germany led by Hitler attacked Poland. The Second World War started. After Poland, Austria, Czechoslovakia, France and Norway have fallen to fascists. The Nazis captured twelve European countries.
On 22 June 1941, at 4 a.m. without a declaration of war Fascist Germany attacked the Soviet Union. 190 land divisions, 5000 planes and 200 warships of Germany launched their blow at our country. It was a blitz attack; a border on a huge area was violated – from the Barents Sea in the north to the Black Sea in the south. The Soviet-German war started. In Soviet and Russian historiography, it was called the Great Patriotic War.
The enemy was counting on lightning war. In six months, the Soviet Union should have just been a memory. However, the plans of fascists were not to be. The Great Patriotic War became national. Not only the army but also all the people have defended our homeland. Volunteers went to the front. Yesterday’s schoolchildren became soldiers.
At the lecture, students knew about the main stages of the Second World War, peoples’ courage and heroism in the fight against fascism, and about heroes of our district who participated in the Great Patriotic War.
